miranda july is one of my favorite artists/people. most of the time i draw inspiration from artists in the sense that i wish i could make art like them. but my inspiration from miranda is her lack of self-censorship, her courage, her eccentricity. more specifically her courage to not censor her eccentricity! i own 2 of her books and love reading and re-reading them.

my dearest friend j.annie gave me a copy of no one belongs here more than you for christmas and her note inside sums everything up, "here's to never being afraid of our weirdness". learning to love you more; to me is like life projects and i think i should start actually doing some. i honestly think it would make you a better person if you made encouraging banners or some of the other projects she suggests.

"life is so ridiculously gorgeous, strange, heartbreaking; horrific, etc., that we are compelled to describe it to ourselves, but we can't! we cannot do it! and so we make art."-miranda july

well, here's my new blog.
i'm hoping to use it to artistically stay connected with friends.
perhaps start an art exchange.
and periodically post my drawings that i'm loosely calling "verbal hugs".
and there will be inspiration posted as well.
best.
